ساحل البحر الأحمر

مدينة تاريخية قديمة في شرق السودان على ساحل البحر الأحمر بنيت علي جزيرة مرجانية ويحيط بها سور له خمس بوابات. تتميز مبانيها القديمة بالزخارف والنقوش الجميلة. وتوجد علي بعد ميلين منها ثمانية أبراج أثرية للمراقبة. زارها الكثير من الرحالة العرب مثل ابن بطوطة والأوروبيين كصامويل بيكر كما زارها عدد من القادة والزعماء منهم خديوي مصر عباس حلمي الثاني، واللورد ألينبي.
